Chigasaki Style: A Very Marin Christmas!

Merry Christmas! Today is a cool, but clear and beautiful day in Chigasaki, and as the outdoors become wintry, a nice bicycle of interest is the Nicasio SE, from Marin bicycles, the (California) bear of the west coast, USA.  The company itself is named after the Marin County area just on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge, north of the city of San Francisco.  It is a residential, yet wonderful area of hills, ocean views, stylistic character, and plenty of greenery.  I was there in April, and it is refreshing, wooded, and still very much in tune with nature.  The area is a bicycling nirvana, and Marin bicycles are the spiritual, physical and aesthetic representation of the area it is named after.

Nicasio is a census designated place in Marin County, California.  It is located 8 miles southwest of Novato, at an elevation of 194 feet.  The Nicasio region is a hydrologic zone containing the four main drainages of Nicasio Creek up to the ridgelines defining their basin.  Marin model bicycles are named for areas in Marin County, and in the case of the rugged, yet stylish, Nicasio, is an area that represents its hearty nature, signifying the ability of the Nicasio to be ridden both road and offroad.

 

The Nicasio is designed to take you Beyond Road.  These endurance models let you take any path you’d like, whether it is the asphalt or to a variety of rougher terrains, on the beaten path. This bicycle is equipped with Shimano Claris derailleurs, FSA Tempo Compact crank, 50/34T; Shimano 8 speed 11/32t, with Tektro M280 Mechanical disc brakes, and comes with rear mount kickstand.   It’s a bicycle that looks great in the city, on seaside roads, and tough enough to tackle off road gravel and trails.
