The Zwift App has made indoor cycling and winter training fun.  With an algorithm to convert your power output and weight into speed, the video computer game type virtual world might seem frivolous, but in reality, hooked up to a turbo trainer ANT+ or bluetooth speed sensor, it is a great way to keep fit, provide motivation from the boring indoor walls of boredom, and engage the rider on super cool world courses, like riding through London or New York or the desert. Here at Y’S Road Road Chigasaki we have the Elite Qubo Digital Smart B+ priced at 29800 yen +TAX.  The Elite Qubo Digital Smart B+ is a smart trainer that hooks up your bicycle to a rear wheel contact, pairable to apps such as Zwift with either bluetooth or ANT+. For Zwift set up, beyond the roller, all a rider needs is their bicycle, ANT+/bluetooth sensor and a screen.  Either an ipad or a television to hook up and race on great courses vs the best of riders, along with a monthly fee for the Zwift App. 

 

 

 

As the usage of Zwift has advanced, now used in over 150 countries with over a million users! Zwift has become such an effective training tool that many professional riders use it as a means of fitness or recovering from injury.  In example, there is a workout called the Mat Hayman Paris Roubaix 1 which gives protocol that users say should make you feel nauseated, it’s so tough, in the first ten minutes.  It has a 5 minute warm up, followed by 20 second maximal sprint into a one minute recovery of 65% of each riders FTP or individual functional threshold power, determined by an initial testing of a rider’s average power output sustained for one hour.   The Hayman workout repeats the 20 second burst/recovery 3 times.  A 20 minute sweet spot training to stimulate the FTP zone follows, which at this point, many riders will tap out.  One can train with the pros at home!!
